Understanding Your Medicare Options in Tennessee

We take the guesswork out of Medicare by helping you understand all your plan choices:

Medicare Advantage (Part C)

A bundled alternative to Original Medicare that may include extra benefits like dental, vision, hearing, gym memberships, and prescription drug coverage. We help you compare local Advantage plans based on your doctors, prescriptions, and lifestyle needs.

Medicare Supplement Plans (Medigap)

These plans help cover out-of-pocket costs not paid by Original Medicare, such as deductibles, coinsurance, and copayments. If you prefer flexibility in choosing providers and nationwide coverage, a Supplement plan might be right for you.

Prescription Drug Plans (Part D)

We help you select a Part D plan that covers your medications and minimizes your costs at the pharmacy.

Medicare Enrollment Periods in Tennessee

Knowing when to enroll is just as important as knowing what to enroll in:

  • Initial Enrollment Period (IEP): The initial enrollment period lasts for a total of 7 months: 3 months before you turn 65, the month of your birthday, and 3 months after your birthday.

  • Annual Enrollment Period (AEP): October 15 through December 7—when you can change or enroll in Advantage or Part D plans. This period is also when new plans come out or current plans change each year. It’s a good time to review your current coverage with your agent to make sure your plan is still right for you.

  • Special Enrollment Periods (SEPs): Available if you experience certain life events, like moving or losing employer coverage,or declared natural weather disasters if you live in the affected area. Learn more about SEP reasons here.

Medicare FAQ: What You Need to Know

Do I need to enroll in Medicare when I turn 65?
It depends. If you’re still working and have group health coverage, you may be able to delay. We can help you weigh the pros and cons based on your situation.

How much does Medicare cost?
Part A is usually free if you or your spouse worked 10+ years. Part B has a monthly premium (adjusted based on income), and you’ll pay extra if you choose a Supplement, Advantage, or Part D plan.

Can I change my Medicare plan later?
Yes, during AEP or if you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period. We help clients review their coverage annually to make sure it still fits.

What’s the difference between Medicare Advantage and Medicare Supplement?
Medicare Advantage replaces Original Medicare and usually includes extra benefits, but has networks and copays. Medicare Supplement works with Original Medicare and gives you more provider freedom, but no extras like dental or vision.

Do I need a Part D plan if I don’t take any medications?
Yes. If you skip it and enroll later, you could face lifetime penalties. We’ll help you find a low-cost option to avoid this.
